AES is a recognised full-service educational provider based in the heart of London. Operating since 1973, we have over 50 years of experience helping US universities customise their study abroad programme to London. We work with universities in London to provide tailor-made academic programmes to our US partners, as well as support US universities with their own semester abroad programmes that may require assistance with total curricular offerings.
As a part of our semester programmes, AES is able to offer visiting undergraduates an internship combined with a broad selection of courses. Students who prefer to undertake a full-time internship, with no academic component, can apply to the London Professional Internship Programme.
For summer session, AES offers an 8-week programme in co-operation with the University of Connecticut (UCONN) and students can choose from up to 4 courses combined with an internship.
AES offers a wide variety of services, including:
Enrolling at University of Westminster (UW), Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) and London South Bank University (LSBU), enables students to obtain credit towards their degree programmes at their home campus. These universities ensure that students fulfil their required academics and internship practicum contact hours, according to UK QAA guidelines. At these institutions, students under the aegis of AES will be treated as UK students and can choose from multiple different course options. Internship participants at BUL, UW and LSBU will also enrol in a work-based learning seminar, which serves as a compulsory component of the internship and is integral to the assessment of the internship placement. Students will also receive student IDs, enabling them to have full access to the extensive library, IT equipment and student facilities at these institutions. Transcripts for these programmes will be issued by all universities for credit transfer purposes.
With a strong commitment to developing its ties with US universities in addition to British institutions, in 2020, AES concluded a School of Record agreement with the University of Connecticut (UConn). This allows AES to develop its own curriculum for both semester and summer sessions, enabling AES courses and faculty to be validated by a reputable accredited US university, resulting in an official transcript being issued by UConn’s home campus at the end of each programme. In its delivery of courses and, where applicable, a London-based internship, AES is expected to maintain the standards and quality assurance set by UConn under its accreditation by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC).
Students enrolled on the AES-UConn London Semester & Summer Abroad Programme have the opportunity to study and intern in one of the world’s leading international cities. They can select courses drawn from UConn’s approved curriculum for up to 12 credits each semester, and up to 6 credits in the summer. At the same time, students have the option of undertaking an AES internship worth 4 credits, from a wide range of internship sites, available to students in most majors and areas of interest.
On arrival, students will be given a full orientation to AES’s modern accommodation and study centre facilities and, similarly, to London life and culture. They will attend lectures and participate in field trips to become immersed in London society. Trips include visits to theatres, government buildings, museums & art galleries as well as historic landmarks.
