Named after Sir Francis Ronalds, who resided at 40 Queen Square between 1820-1822. Ronalds was a 19th Century English scientist and inventor, whose achievements embraced multiple disciplines, including electricity, meteorology and photography. He is recognised as the first electrical engineer, and several of his discoveries have had wide and lasting impact.
