Introduction

Although one of the smaller countries in Europe, Austria has eight borders with other European countries and, therefore, the majority of groups travelling to Austria do so as part of a multi-location itinerary. The country has a rich history, and the major cities of Vienna and Salzburg lend themselves well to groups looking at Study Abroad programmes, focusing on fields such as art history and business and finance.  However, it is within the field of music where Austria excels, having produced many of the world’s greatest musical composers, including Mozart, Schubert, Strauss and Mahler.  A must-do whilst in Salzburg is the Sound of Music Tour, which takes you to a range of locations from the famous film, which was based on the real-life Von Trapp family.
