AES London Semester Programme

About the programme

In cooperation with the University of Connecticut (UConn), we offer the AES London Semester Programme, which affords you the option to study and intern in London under School of Record (SoR) arrangements. The programme runs for 15 weeks during the fall and spring semesters, allowing you to gain practical experience while earning academic credit. All majors are eligible for the programme. There will additionally be an eight-week summer session option.

You will undertake an unpaid internship for up to 20 hours a week, alongside a weekly work placement seminar. We generally work with medium to small-sized companies as in our experience, smaller companies can offer a more hands-on experience for you. We will ensure that all placements follow a learning agreement so that you are able to gain a variety of skills and be exposed to as many aspects of a British business as possible. You will have a supervisor who will closely monitor your work. AES only works with organisations that are able to offer one to one support for their interns.

In addition, programme participants will enrol in three classes under the AES/UConn cooperative agreement. Students will choose from a selection of UConn courses from within the following subject areas:

Drama & Literature
Humanities & Social Sciences
Pre-professional fields

Eligibility

Full time undergraduate degree level student
Minimum 2.75 GPA
Over 18 years of age
Fluent English

Spring Semester 2025

Application deadline: 11th October, 2024
Programme dates: 4th January to 19th April, 2025

Study and Internship Programme includes:

Provision of three semester-length courses under the joint aegis of AES and UConn
Sourcing, supervising & assessing Internship placement for 14 weeks (up to 20 hours a week)
Delivery of Internship Seminar to complement the placement (Politics-related, if necessary)
Co-curricular and cultural activities
Student accommodation for 15 weeks
Orientation Program to include London Sightseeing (Hop on, hop off) pass.
Travel card for zones 1&2
Administration fee

Total price per student, including the services listed above: £13,730.00*

*N.B. Students will have to pay £348 to UKVI for the visa, in addition to the AES fees (valid as of September 2022), as well as the cost of a transcript from the University of Connecticut at $500.

Co-curricular and cultural activities
Student accommodation for 15 weeks

*N.B. Students will have to pay £490 to UKVI for the visa, in addition to the AES fees (valid as of September 2023), as well as the cost of a transcript from the University of Connecticut at $500.

Housing

Students are housed in friendly and secure neighbourhoods in central London (Zone 1 or 2). All flats have a full kitchen and lounge area, with 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms which accommodate between three and eight interns, depending on the number of bedrooms. The flats include weekly cleaning and internet access. Although conveniently located near a variety of attractions and shopping, students may need to commute to their internship site. This provides interns a real London workday experience.
